Tell me about installing dew wipes.
(88GT)

Do I just have to remove the inside door panel and remove the old dew wipes....or does the window have to be removed to get them out?

Thanks for you help!

You can get to all the screws but 2 if you roll the window down all the way and remove the inner door panel. There are a couple of ways to get the other 2 screws out.:

1.) Order the dew-wipe tool from www.rodneydickman.com That's what I did.

2.) You can take off the inner door panel and drop the window a little to get the remaining screws. I can't remember where those instructions are posted. You might try a search.

Good luck.

I just gently pulled the steel lip that holds the outer door skin enough to get a pair of needle nosed pliars on the tips of the screws and backed them out that way. Fortunately I have small fingers and was able to back the screw the rest of the way out to remove it.

Also, when you replace the dew wipes,...use new hex-head sheet metal screws. Theyre easier tightening and removing (if you ever have to do it again,...You'll be glad you did!)

When I removed my dew wipes, ther was no way I was geting the screws out with a pair of pliers.

I had direct access to the screws with a straight screw driver and STILL couldn't get them out, they were in there good.

I ended up having to drill the damn things out, and replace them. Rather than buy the tool, there is quite an easy way.

If you remove the inner door panel and the end brackets, etc, you will have access to some of the screws. If you then remove the window stops, you can roll the window up further to access another. Then if you gently pull up and forward on the glass, it will remove itself from the track and you can get under the window to access the remaining screws. Thats how I had to do mine so I could get a drill in there. There is a more indepth article of the method I mentioned if you run a quick search. It only took me about 30 mins to do both this way though.
