Are all years of GT wheels the same? I mean 205's on the front, and 215's on the rear?

tires mabe..but in 88 they changed the rims thats how you can tell an 88 from other years. on 88's the front rim where the spoked area meets with the silver part. is almost flush in the rear , spokes are set in about an inch and a half. later

Rims are the same for 86-87's...88's had different size rims on the front....(smaller I think)...

Were the snowflake rims 8 inches wide? I saw somebody type 15x8 and I wasn't sure if it was a typo...

Yeah, except 85-87 all were gray, in 88 you could get optional black or gold.

Here's a Q, how much do the GT wheels weigh? How wide are they? I'm thinking about getting after market light wheels (black), but if I can paint my black or find black ones and they are light enough, I'll just say with them

but is that their acutal weight or shiping weight? If it's just 15 lbs, that's GREAT! Then I won't get any aftermaket wheels , just black .

Ive never weighed them without tires on but if i remember correctly with rubber they just top 40lbs.
Of course it will depend on the particular rubber, but they aint light by my standards.

If i was you id opt for some aftermarket wheels. They will look better anyways

True aftermarket wheels look better, but I want to know what the stock weigh. While whe're on the subject of aftermarket wheels, what's the maxes I could have on 17's whith out modifying anything or without scrubing? 16s? 15lbs would be great, but if it's 40lbs, then screw that! They'll go REALLY high up on my "list" if they weight that much! lol

86-87 GTs used 15x7 rims all around, but used 205 tires in front, 215 in the rear. The only color those years was grey.

In 88 they switched the front rim to a 15x6 and kept the same rear rim (unless they changed the offset... don't think they did). The tires were 205 front and 215 rear as well. GTs with grey interior came with black inset rims, Beechwood interior cars got the gold inset rims (maybe you could special order to switch the color?)

All Formulas got the black inset rims.

My bathroom scale says a GT rim weighs 30 lbs. with a good 215/60 tire (make sure the tire has no air because a full tire will add 32 lbs (joke). My wife says the bathroom scale is off, way off. (LOL)

ok my 16x7.5" rims on the car weigh in at 23lbs just wheel and 42lbs with a 225/50/16 pirelli p7000 tire.
my gt rims with 225/60/15 (rear) yokohama AVS dB weigh in at 40-41lbs and the 205/60/15 (front) weigh 39-40.
all weighed on the same scale. So no i dont have and cant easily get the rim weight but the wheel/tire combo weighs about the same as a set of relatively heavy aftermarket wheels. so id GUESS that the rims are in the 19-21lbs range. All with IMO very high quality tires.

Oh and as reference my 14" turbine wheels with snow tires yoko's 185/70/14 weigh in under 30lbs per wheel/tire.

Hope that helps.
