Help! When I turn on my defroster the air-conditioner comes on like it should but the coolant fan by the radiator does not engage. I am getting some really high ac pressures with out the fan. Where do I look. I have great wiring diagrams but still no luck.

What year and engine?

Fan relay is prabably not working.

It's located under the left headlight on the front bulkhead.

Turn the A/C on and tap the relay with a screwdriver handel.

If that does not work pull the connector out of the relay and put a large guage jumper across terminal A (black & pink wire) and G (red wire) and see if the fan starts.

If it does not then the fusable link has blown

I did some more sniffing around.

There are 2 wires that control the relay
light green & black is the high speed control.
dark green & white is the low speed control.

Plug the connector into the relay and jumper either wire to ground (with the key on) The fan should operate.

Let me know what wire does not work and we can go from there.

Thanks for all your help. My engine is a 2.8 V6 in an 87 GT. The A/C works well with the fan coming on just like it should except when the defroster is turned on. From everything I can see the fan should come on in defroster mode. Thanks again for everyones help.

Actually, the fan doesn't come on in the defrost mode until the high pressure switch on the compressor kicks in. Not sure why GM did it this way, but both 84's that I had and my 88 do the same thing.
