How do you torque the nut that sits on top of the strut assembly? If you use the smaller nut to stop the assembly from spinning then its impossible to get to the main nut with a socket and therefore use a standard torque wrench.

I will encounter a similar problem with torqueing the outer tie-rod end 'jam' nuts.

All suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

Just crank 'em down. As long as they don't fall off, you're OK.

Use a crowfoot wrench on the torque wrench. Hold the strut shaft with an open end wrench and use the crowfoot torque the big nut.

I just zip them down with the impact wrench and forget about 'em.

Thanks testsmith66,

Did a quick search and found one http://webserver.diygear.com/acatalog/DiyGear_com_Crowfoot_spanner___Flare_nut___Metric_172.html but the 22mm is $60 ......think I'll take the struts down to one of the friendly local engineers and armed with the magic word 'Crowfoot' I will hopefully get it sorted.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers
PK
