I wanna kind of get rid of that grey bottom panel color. This isn't my car but it looks like it. I want to do that and add on some stage two and then some ground effects. I'm an idiot, any help how hard it is to do all this and tools required, prior knowledge/experience etc.?

I'm no expert on paint by any means, but if Kansas laws are the same as MN's, you can't use lacker anymore. I wound up using this two part enamel gunk, and found that it doesn't stick so well under about 65F, 70F or abouve for best results. Thats all I have-Good luck!

Just to give you a quick idea, it's not too hard to paint just the lowers....

There are several threads about painting cars, and you'll have to follow the instructions given there. Quite a few people have given info and it's hard to quote everyone, so do a search for painting and you'll get quite a bit of info.

The short, sweet version, though, is to first mask off the entire car with a plastic painting cover, mask off all of your edges, preferably using vinyl tape on the front and rear covers (cleaner tape lines), scuff the old paint with a red 3M Scotchbrite, and apply paint.

That sounds easy, but it can be a lot of work. Make sure everything is clean, though, or the paint will not stick. Masking is imoprtant. Overspray will get everywhere, so when I paint, I cover all of the areas of the car that are not getting painted. I use sheet plastic designed for that purpose, but you can buy thin plastic film at home improvement stores. Also, do not use newspaper for masking....it doesn't work well.

Good Luck
