The 86' SE 2.8 that i just bought has a break in the under-car coolant pipe on the drivers side. It looks like it got hit underneath by something on the drain valve that is in front of the rear wheel. Can this be fixed? Can i weld it back together, or can i cut it out and put a peice of rubber hose and clamps where its busted?

I have 2 Fieros where the coolant pipes were bent up in back so badly they were practically pinched off. A handy Sawzall, about 6" heater hose from a truck and two hose clamps and the pipe is as fixed. Took more time to drive to the auto parts store to get the hose than do the actual work. But check the clamps for tightness every few months.

Yes, they are stainless steel but could be welded with the proper welding material. I am sure the hose idea would work too.

like ski says - yup - both are fine. welding will be tough, being its not only stainless, but very thin. most people go with the hose trick. some have even JB Welded them with good results.
