I have owned 5 Fiero's, ( a new 84, a used 85,2 86's and an 88). Everyone of them had a door rattle on the driver's side. Has anyone corrected this? It sounds like the latch to the stricker. I have done alot of adjusting, but never got rid of the noise. And why only the driver's side?
Thanks, Kevin

Try replacing the striker bolt in the door jamb. The Fiero store sells new ones for under $10 bucks. It helped in my wife's t-top.

Also make sure that your door hinge pins are in good shape. You can check by opening the door and then lifting it vertically and letting it down repeatedly. If there is play (there should be basically zero) the hinge pins will need replaced. Rodney Dickman offers everything you need to rebuild the hinges (pins, bushings, tools) and I highly recommend him.

Thanks guys. I know the stricker is good. I never thought to look at the hinges, but that makes sense.
Thanks again, Kevin

I did just the pins on the driver door. It helped a lot. Now I need to replace the post in the jam. Until you get the post try a little electical tape on the post to make the diamiter a little thicker. What happens over time is the both the latch and the post ware down from use and create a loose fit when closed.

Also the latch assembly could be worn. Maybe not likely this time since you said the striker was still good. Just a thought.

I had a similar problem on both doors. What I did to solve the problem was to remove the post from the door jam and very carefully grind the whole oblong towards the inside of the car. Reinstall the post and slide it to the inside of the oblong as you tighten it. This will tighten the pull on the door. Go slowly and maybe test a couple of times to get it right. Worked great for me.
