I need the part number for the coolant line that heats the throttle body on a Fiero V6. Anyone know what it is?

If you know where I can get one, that would be helpful, too.

You're talking about the hard lines from the thermostat area to the TB? The ones some people (myself included) remove?

Yup, that's the one. I was thinking about removing it, myself, since it seems like a pretty useless part, seeing how much heat is under the hood anyway.

My main concern is is it safe for the engine? 'Cause if the computer is depending on the air going through the throttle body being a certain temperature, wouldn't that affect performance?

Thanx

Well, from what I have gathered from reading various threads, the TB lines serve to heat the intake airflow in cold climates. Now, living in Hawaii, this isn't a concern - and from what I've gathered, the colder the airflow into the engine, the better it will perform. As for the computer getting screwy readings, I think the ECm gets the temp that it uses to operate from a Temp sensor which reads coolant temp somewhere unrelated to the TB.

the t-body coolant lines are there to keep the throttle body from freezing in cold humid climates.
i live in a cold dry climate and ive had those coolant lines removed for the last two winters and have seen no ill effects

and i really doubt that there would be much effect on the temperature of the air charge as i cant see those lines heating up the throttle body at all once the engine is up to full operating temp, and for the split second that the air is passing through is not enough time to cause any real difference.

but it makes for a much cleaner look, that was my first reason for getting rid of them.

oh and i dont know the p/n for them but i do have two extra sets that i can ship your way if thats what you want

Is coolant always flowing thru them? or only during warm up?

Ok, so the people have spoken, and it's an unnecessary part. So, that being said, what have you done to plug the holes that remain once the lines are gone?

On the two rubber lines near the thermostat housing, I just bent a piece of metal into a U-shape, put it in the two hoses and then clamped them together. On the TB I just bought some bolts with the same thread as the coolant lines and plugged the holes.

I must say that this is a great mod. Now itīs so easy to get to the distributor and other things. I can now manage to get the EGR tube off the plenum with ease.
