I have just driven my 88GT of the ramps for the first time after a complete renewal of the engine. It is running real rich, emissions from the tailpipe, black soot in the new exhaust. Any ideas...or should I run this thing for a while to allow the computer to learn the engine? This is what I have done:
Rebuilt bottom end..stroked to 3.1(professionally done and balanced)
Comp Cam 2030(?)
Brand new upper end including intakes, plenum, throttle body, heads(stock).
All sensors are new except coolant, EGR sol.
Borla Exhaust, no cat.
Stock automatic transmission
Ported stock exhaust manifolds
Stock ECM
Accel cap and rotor
Stock plug wires
New Bosch plugs
The car idles fantastic in drive, misses in Park/Neutral. With no load on the engine, the engine stumbles on light acceleration, but responds great to a quick acceleration.
I have not driven the vehicle yet, and I am wondering if the vehicle needs to go through a learning mode before the computer can calibrate the fuel mixture?
Any ideas?
