I was just wondering, can I use the tilt steering colum from an 88 in an 87? Also, I was thinking about doing that 4th gen firebird interior I read about here. Anyone think a Camaro interior would work? I mean, Firebirds and Camaros are basically the same car, are they not?

Thanks...

All Fiero column are basically the same. The only difference is the auto and manual transmission versions.

I don't know of anyone that's done the Camaro interior although it should work. In my opinion the firebird interior looks better, but if you like the camaro and have access to one, I say go for it. And post lots of pictures as you go along.

If you find my advice useful, then please give me a positive rating, thanks...

And you can swap auto for manual ... but you have to also swap the parts.

The manual doesn't have the trans cable interlock -- you can swap the part and cable between the two; the auto doesn't have the 'clutch start interlock', but again you can swap the parts.

The column is the 'tree' all of it hangs on -- I have an auto column in my 5Speed car now, only 'modified' to be manual.

I'm using the Camaro interior...I got it for almost nothing. Too bad I couldn't keep the seats power.

only other thing to consider is if you end up with an intermittant wiper control or not. Otherwise they are interchangable from what I've been able to determine. I've unfortunately replaced 2 now in my 87 due to car thieves.

i would suggest changing the lock cylnder in the new steering colum with your lock cylnder so you dont have to have a key for the trunk, doors, and to start the car. they should be interchangable as far as i know.
