If my T-stat is broke or missing could it cause the car to boil over and the fan not to kick in?????? Yes I have one getting picked up now (gotta love a wife who is car friendly ) just need to get home to install it.

You do need your t-state in to do it's job. The coolant needs to be in the Rad long enough to dissipate heat.

no, the t-stat has nothing to do with your fan. you need to find out why the fan isnt working. 2 main reasons - the switch - near the t-stat housing, and the fan itself. sometimes the connector is just crusty - so start there. then get the car up to temp, and see theres 12volts on the connector prongs, if not, fans not getting power, most likely the switch. if there is 12volts, the fans probably dead, and you need to find a new one. also, if you have A/C, turn it on, and see if the fan comes on. not sure if theres a fan relay, if so, thats another thing to check. now that I think about it, I think there is a fan relay. - so 3 things to go wrong....

You might have some air trapped in the cooling system. You may want to bleed the system when you put the new thermostat in. I believe that there are instuctions in Orge's Cave on doing this.

Since I replace the belt tensioner over the weekend I suspect a combination of the t-stat and an air pocket. I will read Orge's again.

OK update!! and DOH!!!!!!! <slaps head with hand!> As many of you know I installed my F355 nose this weekend and I had to splice in wiring to lengthen the TS socket. (for those who missed it) https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/033275.html

Well While trouble shooting my Fan issue I gave the fan a whack and nothing. I then stated wiggling the wires! ( great hint from my days as a Computer Technicain) Well I noticed a bit of flashy metal and soon It became apperant that it was a connect. Hrmm I did not unplug that. It looks like it fits into a relay of some sort right in front of the DS head light. Plugged it back in, turned the key to on and pressed the AC button and VOLA!!!

I have Fanage!!!! Woohoo.

Thanks a lot guys for the hints. Guess I pulled it loose when doing the Turn signal wiring.

I like simple DOH! fixes.
