Well, as you can...somewhat tell from the title, my car has acceleration problems. Its a 1986 SC with a 2.5L. Well, when I have it started up cold (or just left alone for a while) this is what happens. First it kinda high idles a little bit (I don't think I'm worried bout that). Then when I accelerate, my car moves slowly, and then kabaam! It feels like fuel cut almost and the car almost dies (and sometimes does die), and then it'll "catch on" and then do it again, but in a very much shorter length of time then even out. During acceleration theres nothing to notice, but when I come to a stop again...chug a lug chug a lug. It continues to do this until the engine gets warmer and then it doesn't do it at all. I did a diagnostic and I get a code 24 which I believe is a VSS problem, which I don't think would have anything to do with it, but I'm not that smart (btw, what the crap do you do to get rid of that?) As far as changing things, new air filter, new spark plugs and wires (I put those on at my break time I was so excited to get them on (plus my spark plugs were hashed cause they were.....a whitish hot burnt color....would the whitish hot burnt color have anything to do it with?)), PCV valve is still good (shook it and bally thing still shakes around). I'm pretty sure I need a new O2 sensor so that's my next buy when I get the money. As far as EGR goes, I'm not sure about that one. The diaphragm deal still moves with a "moderate" pressure on it (feels a little bit harder than "moderate" pressure to me Mr. Haynes). Well....can anybody diagnose my chug problem? Thanks

Problem goes away when it warms up? Sounds like the coolant temp sensor that goes to the ECM might be ailing.

If your spark plugs are whitish, I think that means you're running lean (hot). I would look for vacuum leaks. I've heard of many EGR tube problems. Inspect all vacuum lines/connections. The little rubber connectors tend to deteriate over the years.

Well I do know that my car runs hot because of some problem that I'm still trying to figure out. I'm going to check the EGR tube and vacuum lines to see if their are any cracks or holes in there. As for the coolant sensor.....gotta find out where that is and follow it. My car I believe was involved in an engine fire and had new stuff put in (problem with Rear Deck Lid Release and probably cruise control were involved in this I do believe) I know I have to replace a worn gasket at the thermostat, but that won't make my car run hot or anything. According to my "working" temp gauge, when I'm moving my car will be about.....1/8" or less pass the 100* mark. Then when I'm in traffic, I don't care if I drive home on a 30mph road the whole way home, I just have to keep my car moving or I overheat badly. I'm checking out Ogre's Coolant Idea's for the moment and when I got some money and time, I'm going to clean out my radiator and see if I can unclog any clogs. I've still got to check my coolant pipes along the side of the car to see if somebody messed those up. Other than that, I can't think of anything else. If I sit in traffic for...probably 5 minutes without moving, my car is toast. And it has gotten hot a couple times. Anyways, there's some background for all y'all. Thanks for helping me you guys.

[EDIT] Added 100* mark [/EDIT]
