If your going to do it, look into an NX kit (just my preference). Oh yea, and search the Chat forum for Jncomutt nitrous, you should find a bunch of info in those threads.
I would also reccomend a crane coil over MSD, but again, thats just personal experiece.

My MSD-6 system impressed me more than my power pulley. And with the power pulley, my 85 GT needed a CS alternator to charge properly at lower speeds. I'd shop for electronic ignition boxes, Mallory makes one that impresses me (don't remember model #). Also, porting the manifolds will do much more for a 2.8 than a different muffler. But, a high flow cat wouldn't be a bad idea. These are just the simple observations of a shade-tree mechanic who has spent too much time and money trying to make a 2.8 fast. Scott

hi the best bang for your buck and you could do it yourself over a weekend
-Darrel Morse bored TB -Port polish intake plenum top, middle and lower pieces, only cost gaskets and polishing materials -port exhaust manifolds, cost gaskets and time read time this takes a while -KN air filter within stock v6 air housing -hi flo cat - electronic ignition and coil of chioce i have done this minus bored Tb(until i can get money) and got reasonable mild increase in hp and feeling in cars perception or how it feels to me when i drive it, i have been told that you probably get no mre then 20 hp and that is high side but my car feels a whole lot better goodluck and remember especially in stock engine to get more serious horse power you will spend exponentially and check wallet light glows brighter...........

I agree w/ silver86se; those are the best mods you can do for the money. In my opinion, if you're going to get much more involved than these mods, then you're spending alot of money that would be better spent on a different motor.
I've got a MSD-6AL, w/ a Blaster coil. I like it but, I saw a Mallory unit with a built-in digital rev-limiter that could be set by 100rpm increments. It was about the same amount, and if I were to buy another, I'd buy that. I looked for a part number for you, but couldn't find it.

if you got a tight budget like that, dont worry about the ignition box, just get the coil. The box is nice, but it dont give ya power untill you get some big compression or big boost. The pulley is good, porting the exhaust is good. I'd think a hi-flow cat would be better than a muffler. If your in for some heavy work, theres always a cam, or not so much work, some 1.6 roller rockers.
