I have a 84 fiero and am deciding on weather or not to do an engine swap with the northstar. I was curious if any one has done this and knows the top speed, quarter mile, and 0-60 times.

Deciding whether or not to do the swap should not be too difficult. Commiting to doing it would be more difficult.

Doubling (4.9) or tripling(N*) your horsepower would be well worth the undertaking.

Do it!

P.S. I hope the weather is better there than here. Darn rain.

Since you're new here, first thing is welcome to the forum. Second thing is if you look up at the right top corner, just below the banner, you'll see a button that says "search". Click it, type in "northstar" and search tech. That will give you a lot of information to get you started on deciding on the swap. The search function works really well.

I've done it in my '87 GT. I'm using a '95 300 HP engine with Getrag transmission. I'm running it with 275 HP chip (only one at the time that could work with a manual) and 2" dual exhaust, so it's a little down on power.

I don't know my 0-60, and my top speed doesn't concern me (It'll go to 120 easily, and that's not even topping out 4th gear). My best 1/4 mile is 13.3@103 or so. With the 300 HP chip, larger exhaust, and better tires, it should be able to crack 12's.

An automatic car, even with the electronics working correctly will be somewhat slower as it will be 200 lbs heavier.

Lots more out there. Use the search function. I've documented a lot of my swap here on the forum.
