I'm still trying to get the brakes fixed on the 86' SE 2M6..

One line, bottom towards the front, simply refuses to not leak at the main block (next to the master cylinder).. The threads on the line look good, so I can only assume that there is a problem in the block itself..

Are they all the same?? I'd like to get one ASAP to get this car out of my garage for a few weeks.. If anyone has one they'd like to get rid of cheap, I'd appreciate it.. The local pick it's seem to not be to Fiero friendly

I don't have the foggiest idea. Somebody will chime in. I just replaced all the brake lines on my 85se. Wondered the same thing. It's just a block of alloy? Right. Proportioning valve is the correct term. Wonder if any other gm's use the same block. I wonder if there are any aftermarket "pro" valves. I do know that fieros have very odd sized fittings on the brake lines. when i went to replace my main line from front to rear, I was gonna do it myself. Find the right size fittings and bend my own. Wrong. Nobody around my parts sells these odd size fittings. Thay looked at me like I was stoopid. good luck. I still need to bleed mine completley. Here's a bump to ya. Someone will reply. As long as it comes from another Fiero you should be OK.

Somebody that actually has a clue about this
will set us straight.

Bump

Ed

PS. I've read somewhere on this Forum about people using P/V out of '83 thru '92 Camaro
with 4 wheel disc brakes which supposedly will give you more braking power in the rear brakes.

Since those thing rarely (if ever) fail, we just haven't had the chance to deal with them. I would just get one from another 84-87 Fiero. 88 has different brakes, so I assume the valve is different on those.

I'm heading out to several pick it's today to try and find one of these things.. I pulled mine out and it has a crack in it next to the threads.. I have no idea how that could have happened, but it explains why it won't stop leaking..

My guess is that these things will be cheap (I hope)..

The correct term for that item is "combination valve." It has multiple functions in it, including the proportioning vavle.

You want another Fiero combi valve. Blocks from other cars may look the same but will have diferences internally and some of the holes may be different sizes. I think all the 84-87 ones are the same. I'm not sure the 88 one is the same.

When removing used ones for parts, cut the lines. Then you can deal with them while it's out. If you put it in a vise, don't crush it. You wan the vise to just hold it. Wrap it in a rag if you don't want to mark it up with the jaws.

Ok, the yards around here either suck, or just don't want to work on a Monday morning, but no one seems to have a fiero in their yard, let alone parts for one..

If anyone has a parts Fiero that they want to get rid of the 'combinaiton valve' on, please let me know.. I really need to get this car back on the road..

I'm also posting this in the Mall..

Thanks for the help -

I found one the other night on Chris West's web site. I think it's a "new" piece. Don't know if it's stock or custom. Price was I think $70 . Does anyone know what this piece is? Does anyone know of alternatives. Can anyone fabricate a new one. Could make it look pretty snazzy, Maybe incorporate twin adjustable proportioning valve. Then you could adjust your brakes to their capability or pedal feel. Keep this thread alive please. Erockrocket

Try Kick Hill Farms. I bought one from them. I can't remember exactly what I paid but that also means it was not too unreasoanble or I would have has an unpleasant memory.
