I need to rebuild my 1985 2.8 and after talking to Ed parks, he said go with a 3.1 crank and .040" over pistons. I hate to bother him as he is busy. Anyone know if I need to get a different harmonic balancer? I know I need a different flywheel. He gave me a part number for that but I lost that. Getting older is tough at times. Ha! Any other suggestions welcome.

Being busy is good. Busy=Money. You can look at www.engine-parts.com they sell kits, short blocks, long blocks, turn key. They are also busy (porting my heads) but they will sell,build whatever you want.....Paul

i don't think u need a different harmonic balancer. i believe it is already nuetrally balanced, so u just need the neutrally balanced flywheel to go with the 3.1 crank. hope that helps!

Coinball is right. You only need to swap the crank, pistons, piston rings, and flywheel. Your harmonic balancer is already neutrally balanced.
