I am getting ready to replace the dew wipes on my car. Do the wipes and pads come together, or do they need to be purchased separately?

Also, just wondering why the Dew Wipes on the Fiero are brittle crap, while the origional ones on my '83 Cougar are still in good shape?

It's a GM thing, Right?

There are pads attached to the outer wipes, but I think the inner pads are a separate item. Cheapest price I found was GM parts Direct. I think a lot of it is how much time they spend out in the sun and weather. Where are you in MO?

How do I contact GM Parts Direct. I really need to repalce the outer pads and wipes. My driver's side window may already be scratched to bad to polish out.

Mike; I live in SW Missouri, about 5 miles from Roaring River State Park, Barry County.

The previous owner of our car replaced the dew wipes (both inner and outer) - they look new. However, the pads were not replaced - the look bad and one is completely missing.

I tried to search GM parts direct but (as was pointed out) part numbers are needed. Can anyone provide the p/n for the inner pads? Is there a way to order the outer pads separately, i.e. without buying the entire dew wipe. Thanks for any advice here.

Easy way to recover the existing pads:

Get some self adhesive velcro strips. You can get it anywhere, hardware stores, supermarkets, target etc. Just use the soft fabric half, not the plastic hook half. I didn't really trust the self adhesive to last so I gave it a quick layer of crazy glue and wrapped it over the old pad. Done deal. Been a year and perfect so far.

Not true...have you tried the alternative catalog at GMPARTSDIRECT? you don't need part numbers.

Oh and I believe it is a GM thing. They use the cheapest rubber and glue of any manufacturer. Go look at a 15 year old Mercedes and the rubber will still be soft and the headliner intact.

Catching up. There are 2 inner pads. The Fiero Store has them.

There are 3 outer pads. They may/may not be included with the outer wipes.

At odd times throughout the day I've been thinking about what that stuff on the pad reminds me of. Of course, it's just like velcro. What a great idea. Much appreciated.
