Hey I picked up a low mileage 4.9 complete with intake computer and harness. It didn't come with the caddy auto trans. So heres my questions:

1) Will a 4.9 work with a TH125c?
2) Can a 4.9 harness work with an 84 Fiero wire setup?
3) Where to get appropriate mounts?
4) Anyone offer modified harnesses for 4.9 fiero swaps?

And thats it.. Just need a few questions asked before I start ordering parts for the swap.

Thanks for any info~

We used the stock fiero 125 trans for a summer, we found with out the overdrive the V8 would GUZZLE gas on the highway. But it will work. You will still have to have wiring schematics to splice in the caddy engine harness to the fiero harness. The mounts are not hard to make if you have a welder or get them from Bubbajoe. Ed Parks has harnesses, I am not sure about availability or price.

Here are some helpful links. http://www.fieroaddiction.com/index2.html

As Ed Parks will tell you the C500 electrical connector on the firewall in an 84 is an interference problem with this engine. In 85 this connector was moved over by the battery. Ed has done some 84's but beside the ECM harness he also changes the main harness to move C500 to battery location. This also necessitates replacing the front and rear light harnesses as the old ones aren't compatible with the new main harness.

Now I've seen one post where the 84 C500 was moved to the driver's side. I'm doing a Quad 4 in an 84 now and it looks like there is enough wire in the main harness that the C500 could be moved left a foot or so without splicing. I'm not sure if this solves the interference problem with a 4.9L though.

I just finished installing a 4.9 in my 84 fiero and trust me its just as easy if not easier. All you do is unbolt the c500 connector and move it 1 foot over towards the drivers side and rebolt it to where the old relays used to be. No clearence problems.

I did the same thing when I put in my 350.
Gave me plenty of room.

Hey my old thread! I ended up not keeping the 84. Sold it to a guy in July from Southern Indania. I've since installed the 4.9 into an 86SE I picked up!

Hey I'M the FIRST USFiero! You're plans are basically the same as mine but I'll use the four speed auto.
