In an attempt to get my 85 Fiero 2m4 on the road, I need to replace the fuse pannel. I have an 85 GT here that I have pretty much removed the entire wiring harness from that is attatched to the fues pannel, however I need to know how to take apart the plug that goes through the firewall. I would much rather not splice all these wires if I can get away with it, I would like to just swap harnesses. If anyone knows how to remove the plug through the firewall, and has any suggestions on how to get the harness THROUGH the firewall, I would be very thankful.

Also, the 85GT is a stick shift, and the 2m4 that I am putting the harness in is an Automatic, am I likely to run into many problems swapping this harness?

Hi Dewie:
Neat, I'm on vacation and hope to get to Truro sometime this week.

The 'plug' at the firewall is really a fancy grommet. Just examine it closely, and realize that you don't need to separate it, just get the clip off. It will then seem to be easier. Undo the plugs at the ECM and the clip on the firewall grommet and the harness will feed right thru.

Man, I had fun with the first attempt at this one.

Well, *hangs head* I'm embarased to admit that I asked this question. I figured out how to get the harness through after typing this message and eating supper... simple as anything, just push in on that clip and then haul the harness through... too easy.

The question remains though, is the harness the same? will I be able to use it?
