i thought i had seen them in a picture that was posted on the site a long time ago...i guess it was one of GM's "off road only" parts...anyone have any info on this by chance?

There were made by TRW and sold through GM. I don't believe they are available anymore but if you check an old Chevy Power Book from a few years back, the GM part number is listed there.

They were 12.5:1.

You probably won't be able to run pump gas with them either. Above 10:1 is usually trouble on pump gas.

Above 9:1 with cast iron heads is hard to run with pump gas.
