I just got a new car battery today, I have not installed it yet. I am going to go out and play with it in a few min. But I thought I would ask ya all. What is the factory battery rated at in the Fiero. The guy at the parts store said this would be good for my car becuase I have so many accesories on my car. Plus I wanted to be able to let my stereo run for at least 2hrs without starting the car. ( Drive In Movie Theater's yes we still have a couple in BC)

Basicly all I want to know is how much more is this than stock.

Well if nothing else, the car starts much faster, it seem to crank over 3x the speed it did before.

Sounds like that car could hit 30MPH just on the starter motor!

If you don't want to worry about killing your battery, get one of those battery buddies. They disconnect the battery when the power level drops, so you will still have enough juice to start the car later.

The battery rating for the LR8 engine code is 630 CCA & RC(min) at 90. The L44 code has two types: for the std.CCA at 525 and for the Heavy Duty the CCA at 570 both at 90 RC(min). Just an FYI

Thank You. I got to test out the battery Saturday night. LOL. Not that I wanted to though. My cousin and a few of our Fiero friends were making a hot run from Harrison Hot Springs BC to Surrey B.C. and I hear over the radio that he has a problem. I can hear his engine making a huge noise in the background. We were on the freeway and had been moving pretty good. I had had a good 2km lead on him so I had to double back around on the freeway. He managed to blow the centre of a sparkplug out. We still are not sure how he did it. But he leaned the motor out so bad that he melted 2 plugs and blew one of them right out of the centre of it. (The threaded portion was still in the block, but the middle of it blew out and was still attached to the plug wire) So at 2am, alongside the freeway, I was parked behind him with my 4-Way flashers on and my headlights on highbeam for over an hour working on his car. We sent 2 other people to run and grab the tools and a spare spark plug.

I was a bit worried when I first went to start the car, but I hit the key and Vrooom. It started better than my old battery on a good day. I was very happy.

I have no idea what the reserve capacity is on this battery it is not stated anywhere on the case. Just the CA and CCA.
