I'm removing a pair of seats from a parts car - I have removed seats before no problem, but the driver's seat from this car is being such a pain!!!

The seat is pushed all the way back, so it was easy to get the two front bolts (Ones cloest to the pedal) out.

The two rear bolts though - I can't get them at all!

So Push the seat forward on its tracks, no problem - right?

Wrong, of course The seat won't move on its tracks at all... I got my hand under it and found that the wire on the handle is not broken and that the two pieces of metal which usually lock the seat in place (and are pulled back when you pull the slide handle) are fine. The seat SHOULD be able to mvoe forward, but doesn't budge AT ALL.

I've let it soak in Penetrating Oil Overnight. I've tried to get the bolts out in its current position (Which seems impossible as one of the bolts I can't even see). I've the tracks with a hammer. Nothing works.

So, Any ideas ?

Thanks, but tried that, no luck... I guess my question is really more focused on what could make the seat unable to move forward.

Best bet would be something jammed into the release mechanism. I've found all sorts of stuff under seats. Pens, hair brushes, notebooks, screwdrivers, you name it. Since you have the two front nuts off, see if you can tilt the seat base back (recline the seat back forward) enough to see under the seat and inspect the mechanism.

Sawzall...torch.....dynamite.....

Cut the rear part of the track, unless you want to save them. If it's a parts car, you're looking for the seats...not the tracks. Might be easier than everything else you tried.

Just a thought.

For what its worth,

I took a siscors jack to the back of my Ford Ranger drivers seat when it refused to budge.

Braced it up with some pieces of wood on the back of seat and rear of cab. I did brace the front of the track as I did not want to rip the entire unit from the floorboards.

You can get to the two rear seat nuts by lifting the front of the seat enough to get a wrench in from the front. I have done this at a salvage yard because of the same problem you are having. It is easier if someone else holds the front of the seat up while you do the wrenching. Just rock the seat back. If this works for you, please rate me.
