After letting circuit city install some stuff for me, the steering wheel in my 86' fiero gt can move all around. Anyone know if they broke something or just a loose bolt? Im pretty sure it has nothing to do with the steering wheel tilt cause it can move a little to the left and right. I took off the plastic cover hiding some 4 bolts and i dont know what to look for...plz help

You have four bolts that are down inside the column that sometimes come lose. I would think that who installed it used the wheel to pull themself up from the floor when wiring it. To get at them you need to pull the wheel, lock ring signal set and use a extinsion to get down to the bolts. Hope that they didn't strip them out. It helps to have the install tool to put it bace together. I don't recall what I paid but it wasn't much for the tool. The price of the tool is nothing compaired to the pain it is to try to put it back without it. The last time I did one I could only get at three bolts. I used a magnetic socket and pulled the bolts, put locktite on them and reinstalled them. Three held just fine. The bolts are 8 to 10 inches down from the top. Good luck.

It may just be coincidence--the wobbly wheel is a common problem. There are 4 bolts down inside the column that work loose over time. They can be retightened, although it involves some dissassembly of the column. There should be tons of information if you do a search. I think the Ogre's Cave has a good writeup on this.

yes it may be a coincidence, but an awefully convenient one. I charge 3 hrs labor to make this repair, so don't let them blow you off. If it wasn't doing it when you took in to the shop then by all rights, they should have to fix it!
