How many wires are on the starter? The one i took off only had 2 but there is 3 hanging there.

The starter has two connection points. The main from the battery, and the solenoid energizing wire from the ignition switch. HOWEVER, as I recall, mine has a total of three wires. the main battery cable, and two going to the solenoid. The only difference is that the ones going to the solenoid are connected together by the factory loop connector. It's possible someone decided to do a little engineering project and cut the wires and attach separate loops on each. Otherwise I would look for anything in the general vacinity thats missing a connection.

mine same way, 3 wires - 1 being the main power, the other two are on one connector.
