Just got an 88 GT to part out, the rear wing is split down the middle (length ways), (on the front and rear)another Fiero bud and i were going to try and fiberglass it back together, but I'm hearing that a lot of 88 Wings have done this and no one has come up with a fix. Is this true? Does any know of an epoxy or glue that will put this wing back into one piece?

I repaired a wing that was delaminated like this using SMC repair adhesive, I think it was 3-M brand. I wedged the split open with toothpicks and then using the same technique as when grouting tile I squeezed in the mixed bonding agent. Then I pulled the toothpics out and propped the wing up on edge so that it wouldn't set with a droop in it. Worked like a charm. Be advised that the cured SMC bonding agent is harder than the SMC itsels, so you have to be very carefull when sanding it.

I also used 1" masking tape every couple of inches to hold the split closed. Clamps won't really work because the SMC is too flexible and will fishmouth.

This is the exact product I used. $27 for the tube, it's not cheap, but it worked quite well. The Automix line comes with a nozzle that has a spiral mixing chamber inside, and is used with a dispensing gun. I, being the cheap bastard that I am, threw away the mixing nozzles because they waste a lot of material, and used channel lock handles to push down on the two dispenser tubes to dispense equal amounts onto my mixing board.
revin, My goal is to repair it and make some modification to it. it may take me a while to attempt my project so I would wait on me. Thanks for the advice.

Blackrams, Get out the Visa, order that LED strip, and let's get to work. Shouldn't take more than a weekend to prep the wing, fit the LED, and glue it all back together.
