I bieleve it is a brand/design. The "Getrag" name is used in some european cars as well.

Getrag is a German company that makes transmissions. Getrag designed the 5-speed used in V6 Fieros. The actual transmission was built by Muncie; however, which is why you'll see it referred to as the Muncie-Getrag or just Muncie 5-speed in shop manual and parts books.

The 4-cylinder 5-speed uses an Isuzu transmission.

I think most people over here (US and Canada) pronounce it like option B. The local Pontiac dealer's Parts Man told me that option B is the way to pronounce it.
