You can do it with gauge cluster in or out of car. Take off the face by removing 4 torx screws, lean the top out and pull it upward. It has 2 plastic tangs at the bottom. Then take out the hex (7mm) nuts that hold on clear plastic cover. Grip the needles with your fingers at the pivot point and pull straight out. Some are stuck very good, but pull out straight and they will slip off. Make sure you put them back on in the same exact spot they were or your gauges will be off. then you just put the faces on, press the needles back on and reassemble cluster.

Do you need to use any glue to hold them on or is the peg that the needles sit on enough to hold the faces on firmly so they don't move.

NO, there just push on. Dont have to press them on very hard at all. You will see how tite they fit when you pull them off. MAKE SURE YOU PULL THEM OFF STRAIGHT so you dont bend the shafts. Im assuming you faces have a sticky back to stick to old face. If not you will have to glue the faces to the old ones...be sparing.
