If you are going to run 4TxxE... You might want to look into the higher numbers... 65 85 and those. The higher that number the stronger the tranny is supoosed to be. Of course strength of all transmissions is relative..... All of them will break if abused.

When it comes to the limits of the 4T60E Im an expert. I have completely blown apart 5 of them in my cutlass. It only has minor tweeks to the 3.4l dohc but before I tweeked it I never had a tranny problem. After I played with the timing and a few other things I went through 5 in 2 years. 2 were $3000 tranny that were supposed to be able to tale on hell of a beating, first one lasted 3 days second lasted a week. I would say changer your tranny fluid every other oil change and take it really easy on the burnouts.

Would a 4T80 or 85 handle 355hp, 405tq? (If hardened?)

and Thrasher build auto trans that will hold ALOT of power. They also can add a LSD and many other things you would like

I'm going to wait till the paddle shifted 4speeds come out to have mine built.

Try www.intense-racing.com. I have dealt with Scott Cook before and he is a sharp guy. You usually get a quick response to questions.
jp

click on Transaxle/Motor mounts and scroll to bottom....many goodies for this transmission. Scott is the person to contact.
