The Check Engine light on my 85 is flickering and the engine is kind of bucking/surging when the tach hits about 3.5. When I back off the acceleration and the tach drops back down the light stops. Otherwise drives smooth, idles fine, etc. There are no codes.
Just installed new fuel pump & filter, ran fule injector cleaner through
Your problem reminds me of what typically happens to turbo cars, spark blowout. How old is your coil, spark plugs and wires? You may want to consider changing them if they are very old. Also, check your ignition timing.

Check your alternator at the battery. You should be able to rev it to about 1500 and have about 13.5 to 14.5 v.
The way you describe it with the blinking light and no codes.....jumping and jerking....windows slow, it sounds just like a bad alternator.....or a weak one at least. If the alternator is OK then I'd check the PU coil in the dist and replace the module with a quality one. The windows being slow may be just another problem. Good luck!

im having the same accelerating problem with no codes. Scan tool was hooked up to it and it didnt catch anything either. I swapped ignition modual, coil, and tps from my other car. It made no difference. He might have the right idea with the alternator.. i mean mine is bad (the voltage regulator is messed up) but i wouldnt think that it would cause the surges in acceleration. If we have the same problem, when your car does it does it feel like you are hitting the gas and then the brakes, gas and brakes, over ad over? I had a thread about my problem not too long ago, but it has since died. Another guy had the same problem and his turned out to be the tcc sensor for the transmission (auto). Might want to check that out. Im thinking that the problem for my car is the pick-up coil. I just didnt feel like pulling the distributor. Good luck!
Pull your plugs and "read" them. They will tell you what is going on in the cylinder. See the web page I posted above for examples.
Something else to consider is to hook up a voltmeter or A/F guage to your oxygen sensor wire. Low voltage (Below .1 volts)means you are either running lean or your spark plugs are not firing. High voltage (.96 or higher) means you are running too rich. That can be caused by a clogged air filter, bad MAP sensor, bad air temp sensor or other things.
You need to do some trouble shooting and analysis.

It's exactly that. I haven't checked the alternator yet......doesn't Autozone do that for free?
And when it was tuned the coil was not changed. Cap, rotor, wires, plugs were. So maybe I will attempt that this week if I['m feeling courageous. I probably should find a thread that explains how to do that!
