I don't really like the black lace wheels on my 86 Fiero and was wondering how hard it would be to spray paint them gray. Do I spray a coat of primer on first and then a gray paint? Also what kind of paint should I use?

I used paint stripper and stripped the grey off of mine. I stopped when I got to the powder coating, or what ever is under the paint.

Then I had them sprayed at a body shop with automotive paint. The wheels have held up excellent for the past 4 years, except where I have nicked them with the impact gun

EDIT, Fixing my spelling error that threw a couple people off.

Your wheels really look nice. I think I might try to trade them for gray ones before I go to the trouble of painting them.

Hey I had an Implast gun once!...It would shoot sparks out and whale out sounds.
My dad took it away because I would sneak up on him with it while he was taking naps in the chair...

Who asked you Klax???????......LOL....

I used a paste type stripper on my wheels, used a scuff pad to make sure i got to everything, primed the wheels, let them dry then painted them with Krylon followed by quite a few coats of clear.

Last I heard they still look good.
