Anybody have any recommendations for a GOOD way (product or method) of removing road tar from my GT's carpet?

SHOUT has a gel product that works well. I usually take the carpet out, rub the gel in with a scrub brush, then hose it off with high pressure. If you don't have a pressure washer a regular hose sprayer should work OK.

I also would recommend WD-40. Had a vehicle that was driven thru a parking lot that had just been sprayed with tar. Tried a bunch of products including "bug and tar remover" and they worked but very slowly and with LOTS of elbow grease. (no pun intended ) A friend suggested WD-40 and withing 20 minutes there wasn't a spot of tar anywhere.

zippo lighter fluid has always worked well for me in removing grease and tar, and is light enough you can shampoo it out

I've always been a fan of 3M brand adhesive remover... Available at many parts stores, and paint supply shops.

Been using it for years.....Brakleen. Don't rub it in, use a wiping motion to get it out. Works equally as well on grease or any other petroleum based products.

Soak the rest of it in tar, then it will match!...Or you could spray paint undercoating on it!..
