Heya all, have my first Fiero....So im comeing to the best place round to ask my Fiero question. I have a 87 Fiero an the right front lower Ball joint broke as i was pulling out from a parking lot...whew.. luckily i was not going fast an stoped the car immediatly.I bought a ball joint from auto zone bout 20 bucks however i also picked up a Haynes book while i was there, and the book says i have to replace the entire lower control arm because the ball joint is welded to it.(200 bucks for the LCA sheesh) The ball joint broke off right at the lil half inch lip on the controll arm(i presume the lip is part of the control arm) Now i have read quite a few of the post here and did find some info on the 88 model an i even called the "Fiero Store" and was told it can b knocked out BUT it may have 2 or 3 tak welds holding it in...I cant see or feel any weld beads on there so my question is,, can i knock the broken ball joint out witha bar of steel in the hole an a hammer or is the book correct about 87's haveing to have the LCA replaced... oh .. i also seem to remember reading somewhere that there may b a tool to remove the ball joint... any clarification would be greatly appreciated here thanks for listening.

Not all of them had the tack welds. Just press it out and press the new one in. Welcome to the forum.
