First question... how do I tighten up my e-brake? When I first bought the car, I previous owner had unplugged the sensor for the e-brake and I didn't know anything about the brake on the cars at the time, so I drove 200 miles home with the brake enganged...and possibly previous owner had been driving around with it on...

So anyway, basically my brakes are still good, but the e-brake doesn't grab worth didly squat.

Also, I just replaced my water pump, and My wife was so kind as to clean the garage in the middle of my repair...and now I'm missing a bolt for the water pump...I don't want to pull any of the others out now that they are in because they were such a pain to get in. Does anyone know the size of bolt I need to get from the hardware store? diameter, length and thread size.

Last question: My diver side head light seems like a limit switch isn't working, but I don't see one on it. When I turn on the parking lights only, and turn them off, the motor engages like it is trying to bring the light back down...also when I close the lights after use, the motor continues to turn long after the light has come completely down. Is there a limit switch on the light assembly, or in the motor that I can replace, or is my motor in need of replacement at this point?

thanks for the help guys...

E-brake: Read article in Ogre's cave (see link at top of page). I infer that you have a 1988 Fiero (from your signature) - on those, the e-brake adjuster is located inside the forward crossmember of the cradle.

Water pump: Not sure - think the WP bolts are various sizes and/or lengths, so it really depends on which bolt you're talking about. Sorry.

Headlight motors: If you have the original equipment HL motors for 1988 models, there is no limit switch in the motor itself. An electronic controller does that job. If the thing keeps running for a few seconds(roughly 10 sec.) and then quits, the controller is probably okay, but motor(s) likely just a need new shear pins. See Rodney Dickman rebuild kit for those.

The bolt I'm missing holds the water pump to the motor, I believe there were 8 or 9 bolts the same size. On mine those were the only bolts I had on it, there was not bolt holding the pulley on, it is pressed into place, and oddly enough, I don't seem to have an adjustment on my serpentine belt.
It's a slightly different topic, but I dont' have AC, my alternator does not have a slot on either side for it to pivot on and adjust the belt, and I found no idler pulley.

Oh, this is an 88 coupe, I always forget to write that, it's a good thing it's in my signature.

I found an article in the cave about brakes and it talked breifly about adjustment, but It didn't go into any detail about how to do it? did I miss the article or is that all there is there?
