Why not start with a 308 kit and modify it. The 288 kits are there, but extremely rare, so them may be expensive. There is not a lot of visual difference between them, mostly length, which your not probably going to change anyway. I was going to complete that job myself on the Ferraro, but got sidetracked building Raptor this year. Maybe next winter?

Like i said, you can modify a 308 kit and be somewhat real looking. 328 wont work because of the intregal bumpers. 288has the big ole black ones, although the rear is split instead of clear across. I wish I could find a source for similar outside mirrors, thats one of the 288s trademarks. So far can find nothing even close. OEM ones are $1,400 each

I have a 288 GTO, but I don't know who built it. I too would like information on them. I broke my front air dam running over a cat. The style is very nice looking, especaly the swept up rear.

Hope it's OK to send folks to other sites for answers, but there was a 3 page thread on the 288GTO kits over on Ari's Kit Car Forum. Scans of the AT 288 GTO brochure as well as the Kit Car mag 288 kit feature spread.
Can you post pics of your car? I want to know what all the differences are between the two. I have seen some pics off the 288 kits but not from all sides. Thanks!!!!

288 Ferrari has always been my favorite, I guess cause I used to watch Magnum PI drive his 308 when I was a kid. That is a nice kit what other mods do you have on it besides the drilled rotors? Have you thought about a N*? Thanks for the pictures Have you found out who made the kit?
It looks to be an Alden-Thomas 288GTO, perhaps one of the transitional kits. It still has the original tail design, the original three gill extactors and appears to still have the original front end design. The transitional aspects include the abbreviated door air intakes and the sail panels run uninteruppted from the roof to the tail. The original design shown in Kit Car magazine had the rear portion of the sail panels as part of the engine cover (perhaps for easier engine access?)
Captain, can you enlighten us as to how you got hold of this vehicle? I would love to know it's history!!
Thanks,

If you check out the 288 thread mentioned above (over at Ari's Kit Car forum) you can see the original design and the Ferrari approved redesign. Enzo and crew were successful in really bastardizing the original Alden Thomas Kit! From some of the sketchie pictures I've seen of the redesign, it is possible to return it to the beautiful kit it was originally intended to be.
Back in '86 when the AT GTO kit first appeared, no one had yet installed the Toyota MR2 rear window into the Fiero to capture the wrap-a-round window look. Since it's a fairly common feature on some of the Ferrari kits today, it shouldn't be to big a hassle(?).
Looking forward to more pictures of Captain Midnight's GTO kit!!

Thanks JOE 4RE for the info. So do you have any Toyota MR2 rear windo pics? That is the first time I have heard of that mod. Better yet do you have any pics of this mod in progres, or threads on it?
At one time on the B&B page the "Under Construction" page showed some views of the curved rear glass. I'm looking through my hard drive now because a year or so ago I saved a web page that actually told what vehicles donated what parts for a 355 Kit. I sure the rear glass was a MR2 and I believe the sail panel windows were actual Ferrari 348(?) plexi units. If I can find it, I'll post the pics.

nice car Capt. What are the mirrors off of, or are they made as part of the kit? I cant find anything that looks like them. The real 288s are based on 308, but extended about 6 inches ahead of the rear wheels. The kit looks like its on same WB as the 308/328s. The added length was there to allow the engine to be mounted front-back instead of transverse.
I found the web page I had saved. It once upon a time was linked into Daryl Erwin's KITCAR ONLINE site. Anyway, the 355 kit was being made by Bill Welch & Bill Ioannidis. Could this be B&B Spyder's Berlinetta kit?
If I can find out how to post pictures to the forum, I've got three shots of the rear window area. The rear glass was from a Toyota MR2 and the side glass was OEM Ferrari 348 side GLASS.
Watch for pics soon!!?

JOE 4RE have you found out how to post pics yet? I would like to see how to put a curved window in my Fiero. If you need help let me know or just PM me.
I used to live up in Everett and I think I may have seen your car. A couple years ago I saw a nice Ferrari rebody driving near Everett Mall. I don't know enough about Ferraris to tell if it was a 308 or a 288 kit, though. Could it have been you?

How about full side views, straight on nose and tail shots, close-ups of some of the details; window shots similar to the ones Rick posted for me, rear wheel extractors, 3/4 rear view with engine cover open, tail light area, nose grill and fog lights, mirrors,..... BASICALLY EVERYTHING!
Also, how 'bout taking the pics during the day? As you can tell, I REALLY love this kit and envy you for owning it! BTW, is that dew on the car in your shots or is the paint in bad shape?
