I think it woud be better to just replace the coolant pipe from a 'junker' than to try and repair it and watch for future leak's... JMO.... Someone else might have a 'permanent' way to fix....

Smooth!!

Use a piece of rubber with a hose clamp directly over the hole.

If you clean the surface, epoxy putty works pretty well. Use this fix if you can't get a clamp around the tube.

I'd do both. Epoxy over the hole, then clamp the hose over that. Should hold until you can replace the pipe.

For a get you around a fews days repair try a short sheet metal screw with JB Weld. Hillbilly but I'll work until you get time to get it welded.

Rube beat me to it, but I was going to mention just patching the hole with JB weld.

Braze over the hole, as long as the pipe isn't crunched.

Ten years ago I plugged a leaking water pipe in my basement with JB Weld as a temporaty fix. I haven't touched it since and still no leak.
Quick fixes for small pinhole leaks can also be fixed with a self tapping sheet metal screw with a small nylon washer around it.

I recommend JB Weld too. The Corvette has a pinhole leak in the power steering rack. I wiped off most of it and put JB on the hole while it was still leaking even. Been there for a year now.

Any update on how the J B Weld worked out? I just had the same problem, and just waiting for the J B Weld to setup. Thanks

Another one for the J.B. weld. I've had it on a coolant pipe for eight months now.

Just weld it. Much more peace of mind than a patch ... especially a non-metal patch. The hose-clamp over a piece of rubber was a darn good idea for a temporary fix. In fact, I would trust that more than the JB Weld stuff. Sooner or later, the difference in the expansion coefficients for the metal tube and epoxy patch will cause the patch to fail ... and I guarantee it will be at a bad time, too.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Ken

well, my J B weld fell off, so I went to checkers auto and bought a 1' long by 1 3/4" section of radiator hose and slid it over the coolant pipe with 2 hose clamp and is holding now. it's just a temp fix, but better than sitting till i can fix it properly.
