by standard I assume you mean a 5 speed, and that would be no it will not work. A standard uses a flywheel but an automatic uses what is called a flexplate. Very different items and are not interchangable.

what I want to know, is can I use the 4cyl flywheel on a v-6, to change from automatic trany, to my 5 spd trany. Putting in a v-6 that was an automatic trans. to my 5 spd car.Or, do I have to find a v-6 flywheel ?

I believe the 2.5 and 2.8 did use different flywheels, but I'm not 100% on that. I think I've seen a thread or two on here where other people have posted similar questions and the general consensus was that the two are different.

If I have a parts question about interchangeabilty I go to a parts store and have them check part numbers. If they are the same it is a guaranteed fit. If they are different they prabably are not a swap. Hope this helps.

You have to find a V6 flywheel. You also need to know what year the engine is. 88 flywheels are nuetrally balanced (engine is balanced internally), while 87 and older ones are externally balanced.

ok,it looks like the v-6 will be put in as an automatic then, next question, will the automatic shifter, cable etc, from an 88 hook right into my 87,when I put the 87 v-6 motor and trany in? or do I need to put the 88 automatic trany on it first? (88 had a 4cyl in it)
