Looking for a late model factory cd player that would plug into a 85 fiero. What models will fit? Will the harness plug in or will I have to modify it? I'd like it to fit in the factory place and just plug in. Thanks

Any late model 1.5 DIN GM will fit with an adapter plug..Chrysler's 1.5 DIN will fit but you would obviously have to rewire the plug of course.

You need an adapter harness to put a newer one in your 85, but then it will be plug and play. If you do not have one yet and are looking to buy go to the mall and read the thread by kru. Many people here (myself included) have bought one from him with very good results.

I have an am/fm cd from a 98 Grand Prix. I had to move the rear Fiero support bracket and get the wiring harness, but it was a direct fit for my 88GT.

You have several choices from GM. Depends on the look you want. With all of them you will have to buy or fashion a harness adapter and you will have to purchase an antenna adapter. Here's a list of the radios I have found to be the most popular:

Pontiac CD players with Equalizer (UP3) from 1996-2000 (and in some models 2001) will bolt right in. They have the amber (red) lighting that is the Pontiac trademark. They also look like they belong in the Fiero because they are very similar to the factory stereo.

The Pontiac CD players without EQ from the same years are also a direct bolt-in replacement. They too have the amber lighting. They look identical to the UP3, except there are just bass and treble sliders where the 7 EQ bands are at on the UP3.

The previous generation Pontiac CD players with EQ (UP3) from 1994 and 1995 vehicles are also a direct fit. They are the closest match, look-wise, to the stock Fiero radio. However, they are VERY hard to find in good condition cosmetically and mechanically.

CD radios from most 1996-2000 (and in some cases, 2001) Chevrolet cars and S10/S15 trucks and Blazers from 1998-2001 will bolt in with only minor modifications to the mounting brackets (elongating a couple holes with a round file.) These radios have a green display. In my opinion they don't look as good in the Fiero because they don't have the Pontiac 'look'. I still think they look better than aftermarket units though. They fit in the dash correctly, for one thing. One other note; they don't say Chevrolet on them. Only Delco.

I happen to sell all of these radios but the previous generation UP3 (because they are so hard to find in good condition), along with the wiring and antenna adapters. As many Pennock's members will tell you, mine are in very good condition. They are also tested by me and come with a guarantee. Here's my thread in the mall, if you want to check it out:

Hope this helps.

Got my new gm/cd player from a 99 Tahoe it has second generation plugs so wont plug directly in you'll have to cut out original supply connectors from auto wreckers easy to do and looks very modern and much more powerful than older gm radios. Good Luck!
