I've got the little blue wire disconnected, and while this is all fine and dandy while the lights are off it still spins like a ***** while they are on. I can't get to the connector that I see down there well enough to unplug everything.

If this keeps up I'm just going to cut the damn wires. (Who was the freaking jackass that decided to put the coupler there?)

this sort of thing is why i'm considering trying some sort of flushmounts. i'm tired of dealing with unnecessary complex systems that are constantly breaking in one way or another. one day, if it becomes convenient i'll even ditch the power windows. too many moving parts to break.

well if you want to work on the headlight, you should open the hood, flick the headlights up, and then disconnect the battery, in which case the headlights will stay up and there wont be any power running through them.

hey man i know how you feel, just about a month ago i had the same problem, you prolly got a short somewhere in you motors, i had to tape the motor to the frame of the car to keep it from spining all to hell and draining my battery. just like while ur driving it listen to see if the tape comes undone and keep a roll of duck tape in you car just in case...
(if you cant duck it **** it!)

84 Pace Car headlight system. Rebuilt both motors with new Rodney parts. Bought new relays (all 3) to use as test set.

Original problem: Drivers side would not go up. It made no noise and did not spin or continue to run-on. One of our beloved list guru's advised that the isolation relay had to be bad. I then hand cranked up the drivers side. Now, after turning off the lights, the driver side stays up as it should, but the pass side stays up also, for about 2-5 minutes. It then goes down spontaneously like it has a slow leak.

I decided that the motors probably needed rebuilding anyway, so before trying any relay changes, I just installed the rebuilt motors.

Drivers side works perfectly. Passenger side still stays up. Swapped in all new relays one at a time. No change. Took pass side motor out and clocked the connecting link 180°. No change. Disconnected power to pass side motor and cranked it down. Repowered motor in the down position and it goes up, with the headlight switch off.

So now, in the at rest position with the headlight switch off, the drivers side light is down as it should be and the pass side is up.

Anyone have a thought on this?
