I'm mid to 3/4 V8 swap on my 85GT. The A/C hoses seem to come up about 2.5" short to the connectiontin between he AC comp hoses and the left rail(sorta) located AC ? connects. So the Question is, what to do about that, loosen the connects on left side move them inward ? or lengthen the hoses to reach. If Lengthen the hoses then how? I know nothing related to A/C ? Any thoghts / experiences welcome. p/s. I have pics of my eng swap and A/C headaches, but w/ too much res. If a photoshop guru would want to help by reducing the res. on a cou[le pics . let me know. Thanks for any help!

I removed the retainer on the drivers side
wheelwell to get the additional length.

Seems I had read this somewhere.

Since I have not been able to complete my project, this is speculation on my part.

Hope this helped.

John

Have you thought about maybe calling Archie, to see if he could tell you what to do?

Hey Archie,
Sorry , no dis intended, just trolling this sight ( very helpful many times) for quick advice without placing my millionth (sp?) call to you. So ? Move things right ? or make the hoses longer ? P.s. If you billed me by the call you'd be rich!!

I just put my engine back in today with the A/C line on for the first time and it was short too. I'm going to check on getting some new hoses made this week.

Yep, Mine to. I unfastened the retainer from the driver side. I used a piece of flat stock metal about 8" long and attached it to one of the factory brackets next to the firewall. I then attached the orig mounting plate to the flat stock. That gave me the aprox 2" I needed. Good Luck!!!

And after calling Archie last week , moving the A/C hose > left rail union inward a couple inches is the right way to go ( he said I probably didn't want to mess with cutting AC lines and I'm sure he's right). I like the idea of creating a bracket out of flat stock though. I'm not crazy about any lines or hoses that self support.
