My brothers 90's VW Golf with the 2.0 I-4 has ZERO power. Even if you floor it it will rev to 3k then drop back to 1k almost stalling out.

I was thinking bad gas? bad fuel filter?

Any ideas?

Try the filter. Also try unplugging the temp sensor closest to the valve cover, this may get you up and running at least to the garage(let the car warm up for a couple of minutes first).

my bors car had the same problem, it was the oxygen sensor, befor he put a new one in he would have to rev it to all hell and when he let off the clutch, it would barely go, after he put it in, his car hauled! :P
