I need an engine harness to finish my project. I need one for a 86GT 5 speed with A/C. I've had someone offer me on from a 85 4 speed. Are they the same? Or do I need one from an 86 and higher?

Thanks in advance!

They *should* be the same. '88 a change was made in the f/i harness. It went from a flat plug to a square plug.

Ya might want to check with a salvage yard, they have books on what ecm can go with what(plus it free to find out).

I may not be right but I don't think that ecm would work... for some reason there was something about 85's... could be wrong. Just remember when I was looking for an ecm for my 86 there were only 2 years i think... 86 and 87.

Any more pics of the progress Rob?

I can look in my shop manual & see if they state when the harness was changed.

Good luck with the harness. Mine has been off the V6 engine for over a year. I hope to remember where they all go & what may be Xtra since I will be using a carb.

the 85 v6 harness will not work your reverse lights as they were controlled by the shift console and the 5 speed was controlled by the thing on the transmission. however you can get a 86 v6 4 speed harness also, they were wired for both the in console switch and the transmission switch. all 86-88 v6 harness will work (manual trans) if you were not putting a/c on that car i could help ya, but my extra harness does not have a/c and its got some broken connectors.
