Just looked at a total rebuild kit for my 85 headlight motors. Don't really want to spend $80+ on a kit when the 87-88 kit is $10.00

I know there is some wireing you have to do. Is this hard, and do you have to change the mounting points at all?

How long should it take?

It's not too hard. But you'll probably swear a few times. Change the motors, wire harness, and relays. The 87-88 relay box mounts under the port fender, in front of wheel well liner, and directly accross the frame from the headlight. The only real pain is threading the wires up front near the radiator. You may find it easier to pull individual wires out of the loom, then push all the harness thru one at a time, and put the wires back into the flexible conduit when in place.
Scott

Edit= All the above is correct if you're exchanging the 87-88 harness in a 85-86. 84s have a different fan set-up, and I don't know if the 87-88 harness will run it properly. Personally, I'd invest the $100-200 in a full 87-88 headlight conversion, before I'd put close to $100 in rebuilt early design headlight motors.

It's easy.

Just find power from the headlight switch and ground and it's plug and play from there on in. You'll need the motors and the one controll box. It'll cost you around $50-$100 for it all.

It took me 2 days to do mine because I wanted it to be better then professional. I mounted it next to the spare tire. They're SOO much better than the other headlight motors

Good investment...you can find the headlight motors and controll box in any pop up light f-body...The controll box is around the firewall and the motors are where they should be but they're reversed...what would be left on a Fiero is on the right side an the f-body

Happy Hunting...Have any qustions..e-mail me!

Why are the motors reversed in the Fiero?

reveresed motors... Most likely because of space issues.

There are notes about the conversion in my cave and in the michigan club site. Personally I'd recomend fishing out the motor to module wiring from the donor. Takes longer to harvest but less splices to go bad that way. Cut out the big module connector with as much wire as you can get. You want to be able to stager the splices so you can hide them better.

If you take the set from a non fiero... The control module can go anyplace the wiring will reach. If you can get it in the "factory" spot great. if not no big deal.

The module will pretty much have to go in the factory spot if you swap the complete front harness. Unless you chop stuff up there isn't room to put it anyplace else in that corner.
