Just was wondering how much horsepower a stock replacement fuel pump will support. Thanks!

140HP. Seriously, the turbo kit I bought from Design1 about 10 years ago used the stock pump and injectors. I don't believe the injectors can support the claimed 200HP that the turbo is supposed to deliver. It would take the duty cycle of the injectors close to 100% and that is not good.
Fiero Store sells one that pumps 90lph more than the stock. AC Delco sells a lot of pumps that will fit the Fiero, I think the Grand National pump will fit and pumps considerably more fuel, since the GN uses 28lb. per hour injectors....Paul

They support plenty. I remember Cal kid saying he had an original pump in his for a while. When it died he went ahead and put a HiPo one in. I wouldnt change it unless its going out.

As for a number----I would say 400hp or so.

I'm running a stock V-6 pump in a 300+hp Tuned-port injected 355 V-8. No flow or pressure problems yet.

ive got a holly 255lph pump in my 3.4L pushrod engine, just for shits and giggles i put it in, nothing wrong with my old pump i dont guess, but the holly pump wasnt getting used. so when i done the engine swap i swapped the pump. if anyone wants a stock v6 pump that was used 3 months let me know.

about 1k miles on it.

Pump is designed to flow a certain amount of fuel and some more. Depending on your injector size and engine's fuel needs it will work more or less to maintain the 43-45psi for an injected engine. Most of the time is a matter of how long it will last unless you are running a very high HP engine.

If the stock pump is sound I would say it is better than you believe it to be. I used that pump for quite a while along with a turbo and 24 lb fuel injectors and it kept up fine. As for the stock 15 lb hr injectors, the 200 HP max support figure that we keep hearing is with them running at a 100% duty cycle. Running a fuel injector at 100% duty cycle ( W.O.T.) for short periods of time should not be harmful. After all how much time do you spend at wide open throttle?

You are correct and I noticed no performance difference between the stock pump and the hi flow-hi-pressure Holley unit it put in. The stock unit I replaced didn't fail internally, it was a wiring issue outside the tank, but replaced the pump anyway as I already purchased the Holley unit.

So the guys from the Nitrous place highly reccomend upgrading the fuel pump for anything over 75 shot.

Are you guys saying that the stock pump *should* be able to keep up at WOT to supply the stock injectors as well as the nitrous jet?? Just curious.
