that's just about the size of the early c4 vettes. a stock (for those year vettes) 255/50-16 should work. don't know about what offset/clearance issues you might face. i have them on narrower wheels on my '87 (need coilovers) plus being an oem size you can find the occasional deal, especially if you roam the vette forums and look for any offer they might get.

forgot, i'm also thinking just the rear. i don't know about the front.

I have 16x8 wheels from a Grand Prix on the back of my car. They come VERY close to the hub carrier on the inside, and BARELY tuck under the body work on the outside, even with -1.5 degrees camber. 16x9's just wouldn't fit, unless you get just the right offset and don't mind them sticking out from your rear fenders an inch. To go to 9" width on a Fiero, you have to go to 17's.

I'm sure they wouldn't fit the front, either.

I can't have the wheels sticking out on the sides, illegal overhere and 9x16 in front is maybe a bit too much.

Bummer...

Then I'll just go for a set of 3-spoke 7.5x17"'s

In our country the limit is 3 cm sticking out max. The 16" might fit because the offset is only 15. But 9 inch wide rims is a lot. Most rims used on a Fiero are 7-7,5.
Maximum tire size when you go 17" (depending on offset) is about 235/245 on 84-87 Fieros. I have 215/45/17 front and 235/45/17 rear retaining factory diameter.
