Howdy all!

I was trying to keep this a secret until I got it to work. Oh well

I am trying to install a Cruise control unit from a 92 Chevy Caprice.

I got the cable adapted to fit, the main unit bolted down and most of the wiring sorted out.

The wiring for the Caprice CC unit has two dark green wires and two dark blue wires coming out of it. I need to know which wires are which.
Dark Blue: constant 12v+ OR Set/Coast switch
Dark Green: VSS signal OR Resume/Accelerate

There are letters on the plug to identify each wire. I just need to know which one is which.

The shematic I have is out of a Haynes manual and is about totally WORTHLESS!!!!!!

I also have 3 other issues that I need to figure out.

1- The brown wire is supposed to be hooked up to the "TCC/Cruise release switch". I am not sure what exactly that is. The haynes schematic says there should be 12v+ to the CC unit through this switch, OF Course it doesn't say whether this switch is normally open or closed!!!

2- Pretty much the same as above but the wire coming out of the Caprice unit is yellow and is supposed to feed to a "Brake/Cruise Release switch". Whether is it is supposed to be normally open or closed, I don't know.

3- About the VSS signal. Does the Shop manual show where it gets a signal from? Is is 4000ppm or 2000ppm?

Thanks a whole lot (in advance)!!!!

Thanks Fiero_Freak!

I got the Info and will let all of you know how it turns out.

If this works like I want it to, it should end all of the vacuum woes!

Check Ebay. There are normally lots of manuals there.

I guess you're doing this since your car wasn't equipped with cruise from the factory...

#1 & #2: The release switch is a normally closed switch on the brake pedal which opens when the pedal is depressed. You can either use a relay to invert the signal from the Fiero switch which lights the brake lights, OR you can track down the proper switch and install that on your brake pedal.

My dad thinks that it's 2000 ppm.

Thanks for the tip. I really didn't want to buy a whole manual for only 1 schematic.

Re: #1 and #2, the brake-switches are already in place on my Fiero (an 84SE) I just had to run a new wire.

Re: #3 - the required ppm is 4000

see here: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/030708.html (Ihope that worked)
