Anybody used braided line for the clutch line? I am switching from and auto to a 5 speed and I bought the steel line from the Fiero Store and I cannot for the life of me get it in the car. I am about 8 inches away from the master cylinder and I cannot pull it farther in. It comes pre-bent and it is a pain in my a$$.

So, back to the original question. Has anybody used the stainless steel braided line like Summit sells for the clutch line? FieroJoe and I thought that I would be able to cut the steel line and re-flare it. Then get the correct fitting from the flare to the braided line and run that up and into the front compartment. This is about the only thing holding me up from getting my car going. Other than hooking up electrical and fluid lines.

Somebody please help.

Don't cut it. Unscrew the braided line from the steel line and insert a piece of brake line with a special coupler. They usually come in lengths from 8" up so you should be able to find a line close to what you need. Even if it's metric....and I don't think it is, they make adapter lines for that too. Good luck!

Yeah I'm in the same situation, getting the plumbing out of the car was a pain too! I was thinking of cutting the line adding a connecter and flaring it then adding about 2 feet of braided line to replace where all that pre bent hose is.

my 84 4 spd has about a foot of braided line at the slave cylinder (to buffer engine/tranny movement?) but the front at the master is solid.

I think I have a good solution to your problem. My hydralic clutch line blew out, Im assuming because it was old. All I did was jack the front of the car up and diconected it from the metal clutch line.I then proceeded to a hydralic shop, they had the right fittings and hydralic line. Its seems more heavy duty than the original and only cost twenty dollars.I installed it and it works great.Take your old one so they can match it up and make you one, I thought the whole clutch line was hydralic hose but glad to find out only about 16 inches is.The rest of the line is like brake line.

You might want to recheck your route, look at another Fiero, around the front cross member/lower control arm the line has got to go between the body (floor) and the lower control arm/cross member/anti sway bar (one of those), it’s a tight fit. If not, you will be about a foot short.

Also the line is bent a little to get it into the box and has to be re-straightened to get it to fit properly

Good luck,
