Wish I could help you. I've had my 87 GT for 13 years and the factory manual for almost as long but I've never heard of a crank fuse. Is that something like a roll of flight line?

Seriously, what year/model do you have? Maybe someone here can narrow it down for you.

If you blow that fuse or remove it, the car shouldn't start. That fuse is what activates the windings in the starter I believe.

Yep I remember the crank fuse. TBI only I think.......anyway....whatever, the car shouldn't run without it.

And while your at it you should always adjust or replace the inner and outer muffler bearings.

84-86 4 bangers have a crank fuse, not sure on the others. It's a 3 amp fuse located below the circuit breakers in the fuse box.

It is a constant power feed to the ECM. What it does I'm not sure, my guess is that it is the power feed for ECM memory.

If it keeps blowing, you probably have either a faulty ECM, or a short in the wire between the fuse box and the ECM.

OOOOOOOOOH Always wondered that one, because there is no way that a 3 amp fuse could take the load of the starter solenoid. The wire alone is one of the thickest on the car.
