Paul, I suspect that it's a generic chip made for the Fiero 2.8. It advances the timing, richens the mixture at WOT and a few other things. If it was made for this vehicle specifically....it would prob have info written on the chip in the form of a lil tag.

There is a company called "Superchips" but it sounds like you may have a homemade chip. It is impossible to tell what a chip program will do unless it's contents are dumped read and compared to the stock chip. Most of what I have seen in performance chips, did little or nothing to improve the power of the stock Fiero engine.
It's been said over and over here on the forum and other areas that chips on stock engines and stock setups do little for you at all as the stock chip was already optimized

Hummmm, sounds like it does not do much then... It has no other labels on it, or serial numbers so i cannot trace its origin. just a Red sticker with the words "Super Chip".
There is a company over here in the UK called "Superchips" but i dont think they are related.
PS: I used to have a Mk2 VW Golf GTi with the 1.8i PB engine. I fitted a "StarChip" to this car and it have and extra 18BHP. So sometimes they do work...

It could be an ADS Superchip. I have one (B series= no cat) in my 85 GT 4spd. If you have an ADS Superchip, it's not a bad chip, but it's not going to be as good as a chip burnt for your motor after a few dyno sessions. If I remeber correct the ADS chip dissables the EGR, which in turn causes the timing to advance. It also causes the mixture to enrichen. If you really want to know if it's worth it, get a factory ECM (& chip), and compare the difference. Scott

Paul: I won't argue that performance chips with new programs can sometimes wake up undertuned engines. However, it is acknowledged that the GM engineers did a pretty good job of squeezing every bit of horsepower out of the Fiero 2.8L with the program that is already there. Several years ago a racer by the name of Herb Adams did extensive dyno work on the Fiero 2.8L and reported that changes in the chips fueling and/or timing functions did nothing to improve power. However, ported exhaust manifolds did show some horsepower improvement. There is actually a large restriction in the design of these manifolds which is easily corrected. If you look inside the exhaust manifold port you will see a slot. If you round out this slot to the diameter of the tubing with a die grinder, the exhaust will become far less restrictive. There is a free 5-10 horsepower to be gained by this procedure.
There's ADS Superchip and "Superchips". Different companies although they might have been joined at one time.
Don't expect much of anything from the ADS. I have the ADS for the sister engine, the 85 MPFI Mass-Air Flow (S/W). Washing the car would have made more power..... They just moved some values in ineffective areas (like Hypertech). Hell, they couldn't even do the checksum right.
Now Superchips did tend to spend a bit of time on their chips but again, the improvement will be minor if anything.
From experience.
