I have had this alternator in my car for sometime now. I have a 3.4L and the car seems to surge when I push the brakes or the turn signals. I was wondering if this 160amp alternator is pointless and is hurting my idle? I have a stereo and amp and foglights and stuff and thought I would need the bigger alternator to keep the battery charged. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks guys.

I would check my battery cables and make sure that there is not any corrosion there. It sounds like a bad ground problem. You may try hooking up a pair of jumper cables to the engine and to the battery negative cable and see if this makes any diff. Then try hooking it from engine to cradle and frame. Could be other things but it really sounds like a bad ground somewhere. Good luck!
