Trying to figure how broke it would have to be to require pulling the steering wheel. If you reach in with a stick like tool, can the turn signals be activated and do they turn off with the steering wheel movement? If yes then it should be able to be fixed on the column, if the covers can be pulled. An electric plug and a set screw, I think. I haven't looked in awhile and it may be completely different, sucks to get old. I do remember that the turn signal lever without the cruise control is a good hundred dollars cheaper.

If you don't have cruise..it's a pull out old stalk..insert new stalk..1 min..maybe 2 mins tops..
And if you do have cruise, it's like 2 hours of cursing and banging your head on the underside of the dash trying to feed the cruise wire down through the column.
Have fun and Good Luck, Jeff

And, if you do, tape a long piece of wire to the male part of the cruise plug before you remove the old one - then when you pull it up out of the column you will have a "feeder" wire for the new one. Just tape the new plug to the feeder wire and then you can pull it through the column with no problem.....
And, the lever pulls out of the column no matter whether you have cruise or not. It just snaps in place. When installing, just push it in and it will snap in.
I hope this helps....

The key word you said was a lil piece of plastic flew off. That is the wiper switch. I assume you have tried to just put it back in without any luck.
The bad news is that the wiper switch is expensive and you must order the correct one .......like if you have delay wipers which you prob do...and it's expensive.....or fairly....less than $100.
If the metal prob didn't break whether cruise or not, you will of course not need that part
It is quite a procedure to replace the wiper switch......read...not easy and time consuming. You will need 3 special tools that can be rented from a parts store most likely: a steering wheel puller, a lock plate depresser and a pivot pin remover. Plan on spending about 4 hrs on this if you've never done one. Please email me if you wish for some help. I've done hundreds. Skyhawk@moonstar.com Good luck!

not to hijack your thread hehe, but i have a problem with my wiper stalk.....whenever i turn on the turn signals, the wipers go on for one stroke then turn off. When the steering wheel comes back around to turn off the signal, the wipers go again for one cycle. And if i go over a bump they will go for a cycle. Needless to say this is really annoying lol. What should i check before i put a switch on that fuse!!! BTW its an 85 with delay wipers and cruze.

i didn't even think of that.....it is really possible though to drill it out in some way shape or form? I actually almost had a wreck, that in some roundabout way had to do w/ me not being able to use my wipers tonight..some idiot pulled out going across at an angle in front of me which was illegal for him and i came about 2 feet from him.....so i some way i couldn't see him.....lol...wish i did though so i get my front repainted.... wouldn't have done a whole lot....not going fast enough...thanks!!
